Lil Snappers
My little guys are fruit fanatics! There isn’t a day, scratch that, a meal that goes by without fruit included. I am very thankful to have kids who enjoy eating healthy. I’m a big believer in starting kids out with the right essentials. They are bound to continue those good choices once older.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Lil Snappers.
That being said, we were thrilled to be a part of the Lil Snappers campaign. We received an assortment of fruit from Lil Snappers including:

With Spring Break in full effect this week, we needed some fresh ideas to keep the kids entertained. We decided to use our Lil Snappers fruits to create a fun food craft. After taking a look at the recipes on Lil Snappers site, the kids decided on the Little Dinos Recipe.
With the help of Mommy and Daddy, the boys pulled off these adorable dinosaurs made with Lil Snappers Apples and Minneolas. We did a bit more than what the recipe called for by adding legs using the tangelos fruit rounds, plus added a head and eyes to the dino.
Little Dinos recipe:
Ingredients
2 Lil Snapper® d’Anjou pears, halved lengthwise, core and stem removed
2 Lil Snapper citrus, of your choice (Navel, Minneola tangelo, California Mandarin), cut into wheels*
Raisins, optional (to line serving dish)
Instructions:
Cut an opening in the rind of one citrus wheel and carefully pull ends of wheel open to better expose flesh. Lay wheel flat on cutting board and, with a small paring knife, cut between each segment to cleanly separate triangular sections to create “scales.” Repeat with remaining citrus wheels.
Use toothpicks (snapped in half) to carefully secure citrus wheels to backs of each pear. Beginning at the stem-end of fruit, place 3 or 4 toothpick halves along rind (between segments) and allow extra length of citrus to hang from base end of fruit, to resemble a “tail.”
*To make citrus wheels, turn fruit on its side and slice both ends off; discard ends. Continue slicing remaining fruit crosswise into ½-inch rounds (makes approximately 3 to 5 wheels, depending on citrus variety).
The kids were SO excited about their masterpieces. As you can see, our littlest one could hardly wait to dig in! 🙂
Not only was this a fun food craft, but Lil Snappers fruits are fresh and delicious! They are surprisingly just as juicy as normal-sized fruit too.
Lil Snappers is currently available in Louisiana (New Orleans), Florida, and North Carolina at the following locations:

What a cute line-up of kids! And the recipe (DIY) is so great. I haven’t had these, but I live in NC and shop at Harris Teeter regularly so I will look for them. It can be hard to get flavorful fruit here sometimes. We get fruit, but it isn’t always good.

Now I am hungry. That looks both adorable and very tasty! Our kids are big fruit eaters, and I know that fruit in the shape of a dino would be even more popular.
