I had the opportunity to watch the pre-screening of Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast while in LA last month. When I stepped foot into Disneytoon Studios, I felt like I was in Pixie Hollow. There were large trees, rocks, and critters all around.
We had a few moments to walk around “Pixie Hollow” before grabbing some popcorn and movie snacks and settling in our seats. The film director, Steve Loter, and producer, Mikul Wigert welcomed us before the lights went dim.
About Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast
The film is a heartwarming adventure where you follow Fawn, an animal fairy, who stumbles upon a great big creature that’s new to Pixie Hollow, or is it. 😉 Ginnifer Goodwin is the voice of Fawn and does a wonderful job portraying a fun-loving character. The movie brings out some wonderful lessons, like following your heart, which Fawn does plenty of in the film. When Fawn hears moaning in the distance from an animal, she goes searching. She’s amazed to find a very large Neverbeast living in a cave nearby. He has a thorn stuck in his paw and has trouble walking on that leg. The Neverbeast, Gruff, is resistant to any help from Fawn, but she’s persistent and the two form a close bond after some time.
The Neverbeast film also introduces us to new characters, called scout fairies. When Nyx, the leader of the scouts, comes across an old tale about the Neverbeast she sets out to capture him. The clouds are turning green and lightening begins to form in the sky. All of Pixie Hollow goes into hiding, except Fawn and her friends: Tinkerbell, Vidia, Iridessa, Rosetta and Silvermist. Oh, and Nyx and the other scout fairies. What will happen next? You’ll have to get the movie, in stores now, to find out!
The story is beautifully written and emotional at times. It’s definitely a film the whole family can see. The boys have already seen the movie a few times (we received our Blu-ray copy early) and they loved it as well. I was a bit nervous they would be frightened by the oversized Gruff, but they realized quickly he was a sweet animal.
