Do you live or work on a busy street and find the outside noise intrusive? Maybe you enjoy sleeping in on weekends, but your neighbors like to mow the lawn as soon as the sun comes up. Or you live near a train station and find yourself missing quality sleep. Whatever the reason, I’m here to tell you there is a solution: Indow Window Inserts.
I was dealing with that very issue after moving into our new home. We purchased a corner lot and didn’t anticipate the amount of street traffic we would encounter. After a year of interrupted sleep, I was more than ready to find an answer to how to reduce window noise.
This is a partnered post with Indow and Austin Home Restorations. All opinions are my own.
Check out this short review and installation video of the Indow Acoustic Window Inserts:
How to Reduce Window Noise:
While doing my research on window noise reduction, I came across a video from Austin Home Restorations about Indow window inserts. The installation process was quite impressive – no tools are needed! And Indow acoustic inserts can provide a 70% or more noise reduction. As I analyzed other options like noise cancelling curtains and replacing our (brand new) windows, those options just didn’t compete with acoustic Indow inserts.
How do Indow Window Inserts reduce sound?
Indow Windows are window inserts made out of acrylic glazing and edged with patented Compression Tube. The tubing compresses when pressed inside your window, holding the insert securely in place while sealing out cold drafts and hot air. The tight custom seal delivers superior performance.
In addition to reducing energy costs, they can provide a significant reduction in sound. Indow storm window inserts offer remarkable sound reduction. When placed over an operable single-pane window, the Standard Grade inserts dampen noise by up to 10dBA, which equates to a 50% noise reduction. Acoustic Grade inserts reduce noise by up to 18.9 dBA, equivalent to a 70%+ reduction. So you can save energy, money and get more sleep. Indow window inserts are a triple threat!
Funny enough Austin Home Restorations is a Central Florida company so when I found out that I needed to go through a Indow dealer to order their product, I contacted Scott for help. He came out to our home and used a laser tool to measure our windows and then placed the order.
The Indow window inserts arrived 5 weeks later and I picked them up at the shop. Once home, hubby installed both inserts on the inside of our bedroom windows in less than 10 minutes. Yes – it’s that easy!
Indow window inserts come in 7 choices including standard, acoustic, commercial, privacy, and more. The tubing options are white (pictured above), brown and black. They are just as easy to remove as they are to install too.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with the results. The noise reduction is significant enough that we no longer hear our sprinklers or cars passing on the street. I can hear the garbage truck on occasion, but it’s nothing like the noise before Indow window inserts. And thanks to my new activity tracker that records my steps and sleep patterns, I’ve seen an increase in my hours of sleep and most nights record little to no wake up disturbances.
Are you ready for better quality sleep, or to reduce your energy costs? I highly recommend reaching out to Indow window inserts for help. Find them here.

Who provides, measures, and installs Indows?
Jennifer says
Hi Elizabeth, if you live in Central FL, I recommend Austin Home Restorations, otherwise, if you click on the Indows link you can request information on a local dealer who can measure and install them for you.

It’s good to learn more about window inserts. I like how you said that they can cut back on outside noise by 50% or more! The dogs in our neighborhood just love to bark in the morning, so we could use that.

I live on a very busy street and I would love to help reduce the noise that I get in my home. I find it very hard to sleep with all of the traffic. My friend suggested that I take a look at window inserts. That is cool that they are made out of acrylic glazing and edged with compression tubes. That would definitely keep out the weather and noise! I will have to look into getting some inserts for my windows! Thanks for the information!

We Installed new windows a couple years ago to replace the old single pane windows which reduced the street noise, but these Indow inserts would take care of the noise as well as the heat problem in the summer.

That is a big difference in Indow vs. replacement windows. I know of a couple of hotels that should put them on their windows!

Yes – especially in busy cities like New Orleans and NY! I’ve not slept well at hotels there.

these do sound great. where I live they installed new windows, way over $1000 each (and I have 9), and it cuts down on sound, and much more energy efficient. This sounds much less expensive.
