I was invited as media to cover this press event. All opinions are my own.
Captain America: Civil War is officially in theaters today! Will you be watching this latest Captain America installment during opening weekend? As a huge Marvel fan – I have to say this is a must-see! The movie is full of intense scenes between the newly formed sides – #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan.
As the Russo Brothers mentioned during their interview, “We didn’t want to make a declarative statement one way or the other. We just want to represent both as accurately and emotionally as we could.” So have you chosen a side? As the movie unfolds, you’ll definitely be tugged one way or the other.
Captain America: Civil War Review
Is there comedy in the film? A bit. During our interview with Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) he shares, ““The Russo brothers were great. They’d always have alternate lines for certain things and these sort of one-liners, and then they just let you kind of run with a bunch of different things.” With Ant-Man making an appearance in this latest Cap film – you know there’s bound to be some funny moments.
The film also introduces new Marvel characters, like Black Panther. A backstory unfolds that shares what reasoning the Black Panther has for choosing #TeamIronMan.
What causes the break in the team? The Avengers have made too many public mistakes when trying to do the right thing. NY, DC, Sokovia and the list goes on. More than 100 countries form to create the Sokovia Accords, and that’s where the division is created.
Poor Bucky. The guy just can’t catch a break. There will be plenty of action scenes involving Bucky and other members of the Avengers team. Cap is really between a rock and a hard place when having to make the decision to break off and defend his old pal, Bucky. Will they get their point across?
During our hilarious interview with Chris Evans, he shares that the helicopter scene was tough to shoot. Also adding that his arm hasn’t felt the same since. He definitely “banged something up.” Let me just tell you ladies – this scene is drool worthy, if you’re into Cap. 😉
Will there be a love affair between Cap and Agent 13? We definitely get to the bottom of that answer in our sit down interview with Emily VanCamp, who plays Sharon Carter. Is she #TeamCap? Emily shares, “Well I have to be in Team Cap! The truth is Sharon’s very torn. She’s got this struggle in this movie where she’s like sort of on the sly giving information, but trying to keep her job. So I guess for the viewers it could potentially go either way…”
Another newcomer to the Captain America films is Spider-Man. Joe Russo shared, “Spider-Man was a very important character to me as a kid. I was a big comic book collector. So to be able to interpret him on screen was like a dream come true.”
The fight scenes between Captain America and Iron Man are brutal! It’s tough to watch at times. While I’m all for #TeamCap, it is hard to watch old friends fight it out. I certainly hope that they can make their way back to each other in the next installment.
Go see Captain America: Civil War today! “I can do this all day,” as Cap would say.
More about Captain America: Civil War:
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Show your love for your favorite Marvel character with the Disney Personalization Shop! On our recent trip to Disney last weekend the boys and I sported our favorite Disney tee’s! Hubby is wearing Spider-Man, I have a v-neck Inside Out shirt, and the boys have Star Wars and Zootopia tee’s! We received so many compliments while at the parks too. 🙂
