I am a die-hard Bachelor and Bachelorette fan, and I know some of you are too! Many times you’ll catch me tweeting away as I watch the show. I have been sucked into this reality series all the way back to Alex Michel and Trista Rehn. Remember Trista and Ryan’s wedding? While not all Bachelor couples stay together, Ben and Lauren from season 20 are still going strong! In fact, they just wrapped taping their spinoff show on Freeform titled: Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?
While in LA last week, I had the opportunity to screen this Tuesday’s episode early, followed by an exclusive Q&A with the couple. So are they living happily ever after? Read on for details!
Q&A with Ben and Lauren
About the show:
You all know and love Ben Higgins and his fiancée Lauren Bushnell from season 20 of “The Bachelor” – but what happens after the final rose is handed out and normal life ensues? This new reality series will follow the happy couple as they prepare to walk down the aisle and begin their brand-new life together while navigating the real world after the splendor of The Bachelor’s exotic dates and fantasy suites has ended. During the show some fan favorites from “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” will stop by to visit and share their own advice on life after the show.
The two opened the interview by asking us what we thought of episode 2. In the episode, Lauren plays a HUGE prank on poor Ben. It is funny and cringeworthy all at the same time. Ben also mentioned that any doubts about the show being scripted will be put to rest during Tuesday night’s episode, airing on Freeform at 8/7c.
The two also talked about their upcoming holiday plans and how they’ll be alternating visits between the two families located in Portland and Indiana. As they are wrapping up press for their new show, Ben also mentioned that the two are taking a much needed solo vacation to the islands for a week. It will be their first vacation together.
Q: How much of the show is produced?
Ben shares that the show has producers and that they have a ton of footage. Before getting in the car, they might think of something to discuss so it’s not crickets during filming, but that their big life moments are all real. Adding, “But obviously our crew isn’t going to be in Denver, and they’re like, oh, what are you guys up to today? [And] we’re going to sit on the couch for the next 15 hours. We try to help everybody out, you know? If we’re going to do an activity, let’s do it on a day that they’re there.”
Q: Do people from The Bachelor really hang out?
Ben mentions, “We do. I think for a couple reasons. I don’t think everybody does. There are people from my season of The Bachelorette that I just don’t talk to, but there’s people I talk to quite often. The same with Lauren and our season of The Bachelor. I think first off, we have a shared experience, that not a lot of people can relate with. And it does change you. Like, The Bachelor isn’t easy to do. It isn’t easy to go through.”
Q: What’s been the hardest thing about falling in love, and now moving towards this wedding on camera?
Ben said, “I think for me, and I think Us Weekly had a nice little cover – I put her through hell. In a sense, I did. I think that was the hardest part for me, is because you come out of this, and you’re so happy. I remember that feeling of getting down on one knee with Lauren, and knowing that I didn’t have to break up with anybody anymore. [LAUGHTER] Like, this worked, first off. I ended up with this woman that I’m so in love with, and that I know is going to be the, the person I spend my life with, on this show? Then the next day, you wake up, and you start to realize how much all of the stuff that happened on the show is actually going to affect our relationship.”
My question to Lauren was about her makeup. It’s been talked about a lot on social media. I complimented her on a flawless job, and Ben piped up to share that Lauren has her own blog, Sparkle in her Eye. Lauren followed by saying she’s going to start a YouTube tutorial about makeup soon. She shared that a few of her favorite makeup brands are Anastasia, Becca, Armani & NYX cosmetics.
Afterwards the two took time to take pictures with each of us individually so we can share it with all of our readers! Ben and Lauren were completely down to earth and super sweet. Ben even commented on my adorable phone cover of my boys. 🙂 I really enjoyed meeting them, and wish them the best of luck! And I’m hoping to seeing future Bachelor couples appear on their own spinoff show too! I think it’s such a great idea because we all want to know – does it really work out?!
Following #BenandLauren is a new show titled: The Letter. Check out the short clip below!

This was such a fun event to follow along with through tweets on Twitter. Lauren and Ben look / seem like such a nice couple to interact with. It’s really neat reading interviews and learning more and more about shows or movies we love, and seeing their point of view on things. As well as interacting with fans.
