About the Film
The film begins with Star-Lord and his team completing a mission for the High Priestess in exchange for Gamora’s sister, Nebula, a criminal. She was caught trying to steal the planet’s batteries, which Rocket happens to get his grubby paws on just before leaving the planet. That sets the team up for their first space war against the High Priestess’ team of fighters. The graphics and attention to detail in this latest installment is pretty amazing by the way.
I am Groot
Sit back, relax and eat some candy like Baby Groot. 😉 Most of the film is action-packed, so it may be a little difficult to relax though. Get ready for plenty of laughter too. Baby Groot steals the show with his adorableness and funny moments.
Who is Ego?
During the team’s galactic battle, they receive some help from a stranger; Ego. Once they crash on planet Berhert, Ego comes to make his presence known. He is Star-Lord (Peter Quill’s) long lost father. He invites the team to his planet, named Ego. Star-Lord, Gamora, and Drax go with Ego, leaving Rocket, Baby Groot and Nebula to restore the broken ship.
Back on Ego, a beautiful planet with just the “god” and Mantis, the team makes some interesting discoveries. Meanwhile, Ego is sharing his love story with Peter’s mom, Meredith (River Lily) and teaches Star-Lord about his powers. “Earthers Have Hangups”
My Life, My Love, My Lady in the Sea
Get ready for some funky vibes with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 70’s tunes. ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” and Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” are featured in the film, along with Looking Glass’ “Brandy.” I’m an 80’s child, so did I love the music – not so much, but that’s just me. I think it does fit the film, as it’s showing Star-Lord the history of his parents relationship back in that era.
Continuing with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Review
As I mentioned above, the team makes some interesting discoveries on planet Ego. Rocket, Baby Groot and Nebula also learn about this information, and soon join the team to offer their assistance. But first Gamora and her sister, Nebula, have a girl battle. It seems there’s some unresolved tension between the two.
Once the Guardians are all together, they have to fight to get off planet Ego. Mantis knows a trick that may help the team do just that.
I am Groot, again.
Meanwhile, Baby Groot is up to no good, and leaving us laughing once more. Will he press the right button? You’ll have to see for yourself!
Is Guardians of the Galaxy for kids?
It is rated PG-13. And I think that’s a strong 13. It has some gory scenes, ones where I personally turned my head away for. It also has a few play on words the kids may or may not get. So, the choice is yours. Will I let my 6 year old see it? Probably not. My 9 year old loved the first film, so he will most likely see it once available on Blu-ray.
A true Marvel fan….
Stays past the credits!! There’s 5 (yes FIVE) closing credits!
