Breakthrough Movie Review
BREAKTHROUGH is based on the inspirational true story of one mother’s unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds. When Joyce Smith’s adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost. But as John lies lifeless, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction. From producer DeVon Franklin (Miracles from Heaven) and adapted for the screen by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) from Joyce Smith’s own book, BREAKTHROUGH is an enthralling reminder that faith and love can create a mountain of hope, and sometimes even a miracle.
Breakthrough Cast includes: Chrissy Metz, Josh Lucas, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, Marcel Ruiz, Sam Trammell, and Dennis Haysbert
Bring tissues! This riveting film will give you chills. It’s that inspirational! While it’s being advertised as a Christian film produced by a major film studio, Breakthrough is much more. Yes, you will see the family praying during an opening scene, and as the story unfolds, you’ll see just how much the Smith family’s faith will be tested, but the overall storyline of a mother’s true, undevoted love for her adopted son is the highlight of this story and a must-see for all families! I happen to be a mom – a boy mom at that – and a Christian, so maybe the film hit me harder than most, but I stand by my statement that this film is for all families.
Grab your parents, kids, and friends, and head to the theaters to see Breakthrough April 17th! The film is rated PG, but I encourage parents with younger, or sensitive kids to watch the movie first. See the trailer below, or head here for more information.
