“I’m going to Hollywood, ” I used to tell my friends in school all the time….and it was true. Every few weeks my mom would pick my brother and I up from school on a Friday, and we would head down south to visit family. We would go to Hollywood, Fl that is. My friends would say, “are you going to see movie stars?” I may have left out the Florida part when telling people. Hey – what girl doesn’t want to go to Hollywood? Who knew years later, I would make several trips to Hollywood and walk the red carpet among such talented actors and actresses. My ultimate “going to Hollywood” experience happened over the weekend when I walked side-by-side with Oprah, Reese Witherspoon, and the rest of the cast for the A Wrinkle In Time Premiere.
I was invited as media to cover this event. All opinions are my own.
A Wrinkle In Time Premiere
Hollywood was busy setting up for the Oscars right across from the El Capitan theater, which made for an extra, extra long carpet experience. The blue carpet and theme embraced the beautiful blue hues you experience throughout the film, which made for the most gorgeous premiere I’ve ever walked. I found this stunning navy blue Disney Royal Maiden dress on discount for just $40 – no joke! The store was being liquidated and I got really, really lucky. I felt like a million bucks on the carpet that night!
Prior to the A Wrinkle in Time Premiere, myself along with 24 other fabulous bloggers had the opportunity to sit down with the talent for interviews. YES – I sat 5 feet away from Oprah, Reese, and Mindy (the three Mrs. W’s)! More on all of that next week – including a full review of the film.
Back to the World Premiere and After Party!
After watching A Wrinkle In Time at the El Capitan theater, along with the talent and their A-list friends including Beyonce, Selma Hayek, the cast of Black-ish and many more – we made our way to the after party. Yes, my press pass included hanging with Oprah and her friends in a more casual atmosphere. Can you believe it? Talk about being star struck!
Myself along with a few fellow bloggers quickly made our way to the after party and were the first to snap pics with Wrinkle in Time cast! Truly a dream come true. Below is Reese with Deric McCabe, who plays George Wallace in the film, along with Rowan Blanchard and Storm Reid who looked like besties at the after party. Rowan was also hanging with Reese’s daughter, Ava – who really does resemble her mom on so many levels.
And then it happened……I got the most coveted selfie of all time!! A picture with Oprah. Yes! She was busy chatting with Reese and Disney execs when I finally saw my opportunity to approach her. Would she remember me from the interviews the day before? I doubted it. I think they had something like 70 interviews that day. My mind went blank and I didn’t spill my guts to her about what an impact she’s made on my life growing up. I mean….she literally raised us all, if you grew up in the 90’s. It was such an incredible opportunity get a hug and picture with her. Her aura is SO big. My year was made. Where could I go from here? This was the moment I would treasure for a lifetime.
I also snapped pics with the kids from the film, who are super talented and friendly too. You guys are going to love Deric – he is really something! And Storm…wow she blew us away. Just wait until my interview posts for more details.
The after party included food, drinks, and freebies from Alex and Ani, as well as Elizabeth Arden. We called it a night around midnight and headed back to our hotel. Boy did my feet hurt by the end of the evening! It was all worth it though. Every last second. I loved dressing up and being around such amazingly talented individuals. Being a part of the A Wrinkle in Time Premiere was truly a gift.
Mark your calendars for A Wrinkle In Time in theaters March 9th!
