I was invited as media to cover this press event. All opinions are my own.
While in LA a few weeks ago for the Captain America: Civil War interviews, we also had time to stop by ABC Studios for an on-set visit of “The Catch“. This new primetime mystery tv series stars Mireille Enos and Peter Krause, and follows a private investigator who becomes a victim of fraud by her fiance, or so she thought….The new series is full of twists and turns and will leave you in suspense after each episode.
See The Catch on ABC Thursdays at 10/9c.
The Catch Q&A with Peggy Schnitzer
We first stopped by the wardrobe department where we met costume designer, Peggy Schnitzer (center below). She hand selected several noticeable pieces from The Catch episodes 1-3, as well as look books for us to flip through. The look books are a powerful tool for the costume team, in case there’s a need for a re-shoot, etc. Peggy mentioned, “We document everything, every earring, everything and then we just collect the stuff, so it’s organized.”
When asked about how she selects the pieces for the cast, Peggy shares, “I pretty much stick to solid colors because I think it works best for this. There’s a lot going on and they can be distracting sometimes.” We also mentioned that the show has an older nineteen fifties vibe and if she ties that into the wardrobe. Peggy mentioned, “my esthetic by choice is very sixties/early seventies because it always looks best for their bodies. So yeah it’s very much a designer’s dream because there’s a great cast, great bodies, great visuals and the story is fantastic. It’s really fun to pair up with the story in terms of the design aspect of it.”
Of course Peggy had the infamous wedding dress on display, which we found out she designed herself! Adding, “I got thirties wedding dresses as inspiration, and found the fabric then my tailor Carlos Zapeda stitched it out.”
To our surprise, Rose Rollins (who plays Valerie Anderson) walked through the door! She shared some of her favorite styles she’s worn on the set, and took us on a tour. She was so friendly and easy to chat with. She happily took selfies with several of us too.
Rose shared insider details about filming, mentioning that they are almost done wrapping for the season. And of course they’re all crossing their fingers it gets picked up for a second season. Don’t forget this tidbit I discussed in The Family post: ratings only count if watched live, or within 3 days of DVR’ing the show. So make sure you watch! You guys will love The Catch – I sure do!
Tune into The Catch on ABC every Thursday at 10 PM ET!
Tonight’s episode, The Benefactor” gives more details on Ben and Margot’s relationship.
The AVI team takes on a new client, a female captain in the army, who is being harassed by her colleagues. Meanwhile, Alice makes a play on Ben that could put her in some very serious danger, and both Ben and Margot are shocked when an old friend comes to town.
Watch The Catch on ABC Thursdays at 10/9c.
