In the world of education S.T.E.M. is growing ever popular. This is the combination of science, technology, engineering, and math. The world that we live in continues to grow and develop and the skills needed for 21st century jobs seem to fall into one or all of the S.T.E.M. categories. So the question arises, how do I prepare my child to be successfully in the world that is to come? Well, MindWare can help you with that. This award-winning company has one mission and that is market a collection of unique learning products that engage, educate and entertain.
When you go to mindware.com you become enveloped in a world of creativity. The diverse product line includes games, puzzles, brainteasers, arts and crafts activities, mysteries, mazes and much more. Our family has really enjoyed using their Science Academy Curious Chemistry Kits, which includes a Slime Lab, an Eco Forensic Lab, and a Volcano Lab all for just $59.95.
About the MindWare Kids Science Kits
These hands-on chemistry kits are sure to peak your little scientists interests. My boys loved creating their own slime labs and working with ooey gooey polymer science. This kit included 7 different kids science experiments including, creating fake fish eggs, green jelly worms, and rat gizzards in green pea soup, and ghostly eye balls. We found the directions simple to follow and the boys loved seeing how combining the chemicals in the kit could create the different creations. Their favorite was making the ghostly eyeballs.
The next kit that they tried was the Eco Forensic Lab. They had such a great time collecting soil samples in the backyard and seeing how the different levels of the soil settled when combined with water and a little shaking, well 2 minutes to be exact and man their little arms were tired. I had them predict what was going to happen when you added water to the sample and both boys thought that it would just stay at the top, but they did not expect it to get rid of the air in the soil, which they both thought was pretty cool. Next we are going to try the survival trick, which helps you create clean water from dirty water.
The Volcano Lab was the third part of the Science Academy Curious Chemistry Kits. What kid doesn’t like experimenting with chemical reactions that cause bubbling eruptions? Experiments included in this kit are lava bombs, first and second eruption, mineral springs, and detecting invisible gasses.
My boys really enjoyed working with these kits. It is very important that you supervise your children when working on their experiments, but allow them the freedom to pick which experiments interest them.
