I was invited as media to cover this press event. All opinions are my own.
Remember how I shared that exclusive interview with Tracee Ellis Ross from “Black-ish” last week? Well, during our Q&A we also walked the set of their ABC TV show! Here’s a fun sneak peek of our walk through.
I’ve been on other TV sets and “Black-ish” is by far the biggest set I’ve seen. I mean really, it has everything a traditional home has…you could practically live there! The set is just beautiful, and very well designed.
As we walked with Tracee around the home she joked about hiding scripts all over the place. Below she’s sharing details about a past episode’s script, which she found in the kitchen desk drawer. And that’s not all she’s stashed in the kitchen – she has a favorite jar of candy there too!
As we chatted we moved from room to room while Tracee shared insider information about Black-ish. She laughed as she held up a paper stating to “stay off set furniture” adding that she’s doesn’t follow those rules and will sometimes lay down in the bed to relax in between scenes. We also snapped individual pictures with Tracee in the bedroom, which was super nice of her. By the way, the master bedroom closet is pretty darn big, however it mostly occupies Dre’s large shoe collection. I doubt most women allow their hubby to take up that much closet space in real life. 😉
The kids rooms are also well designed and full of color. You can see a backpack with paperwork over at the desk area. And there are photos of the family all over the home too! It was so fun to step onto the set of Black-ish and get a tour by Tracee! We had a really great time.
Black-ish Episode airing tonight 12/9: “Stuff”
Dre thinks Christmas has become commercialized and is all about “stuff,” and no one loves “stuff” more than his kids. Pops and Ruby think they have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas and come up with a new plan to pare down gifts and spend more time together. The kids don’t handle the news well and hope that if they put on their best behavior Dre and Bow will cave in. Meanwhile, Daphne Lido (played by Wanda Sykes), who is single for her first holiday alone, invites herself to the Johnson family home to celebrate with them.
Tune in to ABC TV Wednesday’s 9:30 ET to watch #Blackish!
