Carnival Camp Ocean is a kids parents dream! Okay, maybe it’s a dream for both parties. 😉 So what is Camp Ocean? It’s the ultimate place for kids to play, while parents spend some quality time relaxing and enjoying the ship at their leisure. Geared towards kids ages 2-11, Camp Ocean is a supervised age-based space for kids aboard the ship….and it’s FREE!

Carnival Camp Ocean
Yep – you read that right. Camp Ocean is an included service aboard (almost every) Carnival Cruise ship! Carnival counselors have education or child care experience, CPR and First Aid certification, and make sure your kids have ultimate fun while cruising. The large space has separate rooms for the individual age groups: ages 2 to 5 join the Penguin colony, 6 to 8 are the Stingrays, and ages 9 to 11 are the Sharks.
Parents sign their child up for this service online prior to boarding, or during orientation on the first day. Once your child is registered, you can drop them off at Camp Ocean during the day until roughly 10pm. Lunch is available for kids during port days, otherwise parents will need to pick them up during sea days for lunch. They also offer a Night Owls service from 10 pm-1 am for a fee.
While at Camp Ocean, kids will be entertained with games, activities, crafts, science lessons, computers and much more. The counselors do an excellent job keeping the kids entertained and happy. To be honest, our 6 and 8 year old boys did not want us to pick them up….ever! They were having so much fun that they often were disappointed when we came to check them out of Carnival’s kids club. It gave my husband and I the opportunity to enjoy the ship’s activities, including the Serenity adult only retreat, which includes a private lounging area and 2 hot tubs.
I have to say – I always struggle with mom guilt. I was hesitant about letting the boys spend too much time without us, but when I saw how much fun they were having at Carnival Camp Ocean, my concerns subsided. They begged us to return them “for just another hour mom” after our scheduled dinner each evening on the ship. When I ask them what they enjoyed most about the cruise, I get a resounding “Camp Ocean!”
So, if you’re considering bringing the kids along for your next cruise vacation, remember you can still have some down time with Carnival Camp Ocean.

This looks like so much fun! I’ve been on a few cruises but never with kids. I never thought they would be so much for them to do.

We have never been on a cruise. I love that Carnival has a kids area like this. For me a cruise would mean just sitting around the pool relaxing. For my kids, not so much. This would be great!
