Carnival Cruise Packing List – Everything You Need to Set Sail

Cruising is one of the ultimate travel adventures, but remembering everything to pack can be stressful. If you’re wondering: “what should I pack for a cruise?” you’ve come to right place! Here’s a must-have Carnival Cruise packing list to keep you focused on setting sail, and relaxing in style.

While your destination will determine your clothing attire, there are several other essentials that are necessary for a cruise. I’ve compiled a list of the top items you don’t want to forget on your cruise vacation. Here’s your cruise packing checklist:

Important Documents Don’t leave home without your passports or visas, and cruise confirmation paperwork, and travel insurance (if needed). If you’re traveling by car, have the port address handy before leaving home. Other important items include your wallet, cash, and credit cards you plan to use.

A Carry-On Bag When you arrive at the port, your suitcases will be wheeled off for security checks. Later that evening your suitcases will arrive at your cabin, which means you need to pack a day bag. Your day bag should include the important documents (mentioned above), prescription medications, a change of clothes (and bathing suit for each family member), personal toiletries, and any other important items you may need until your luggage arrives.

OTC Medicines If you’re prone to motion sickness, be sure to purchase Sea-Bands or Dramamine before you set sail. Other items to bring along include pain reliever, allergy meds, anti-diarrheal, and kids medicines (if you are traveling with them).

Lanyards It’s much easier to keep track of your coveted room key if it’s clipped on a lanyard. The room keys actually have a small hole for this purpose. They are pretty inexpensive, and are especially helpful for teens or children who are old enough to have a room key.

Electronics You won’t have the best internet access while cruising, but if you choose to bring a phone or tablet, you’ll need to remember their chargers. A small roll-up electronics organizer is perfect for housing all of your chargers and wires. Don’t forget a travel outlet too. Each room is equipped with one outlet, and if you need to charge multiple items, you’ll definitely need a portable outlet. It’s a life saver! Don’t forget your camera or video camcorder to record all of your vacation memories too!

Beach Items Whether you choose to stay poolside, or venture off the boat when docked at a port of call, you’ll want to pack sunscreen, bug spray, aloe vera, reading material and a beach tote to store it all in. Oh and I highly recommend packing resealable plastic bags. They are very useful for wet bathing suits and clothing.

Portable Drink Containers Portable, refillable water bottles or tumblers are especially handy when cruising. Drink stations are located throughout the ship and allow you to refill your water bottle/tumbler to take to the pool, your room, or off ship (like to the beach). They are much more convenient than the tiny plastic cups available inside the restaurants.

Alcohol Did you know you can bring alcohol on the ship? Yep – each adult is permitted to bring 1 bottle of wine on board. This is a great way to save a bit of money when cruising. Don’t forget a corkscrew opener to avoid a corkage fee by the ship.

Cruise Elegant Attire – Depending on the length of your cruise, you will need to pack 1 or more cruise elegant wear. Men should pack a sports coat and dress slacks, or if they wish to wear a suit or tuxedo that is also acceptable. Women should pack a cocktail dress, pantsuit or evening gown. Jeans or shorts are not permitted on these evenings.

Other Items A few other items to consider packing are a lightweight jacket, hat or visor, sunglasses, beach toys (for kids), comfortable shoes, and at least 2 swimsuits per person.
