Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
We visited the greater Orlando (Sanford) location over the weekend to taste test some of Cheddar’s most popular dishes. We were greeted by Mark, the Service Manager who shared some of the restaurant’s history, which originated in Texas. What drew him to Cheddar’s was the affordability of taking his own family out to dinner and enjoying quality food. Every restaurant includes stone and copper decor, and you can’t miss the large paddle fan in the main dining room.
With a large variety of menu options, it was hard to narrow down our choices for dinner. Thankfully we had a top-notch server, Jessica, who recommended some of the restaurant’s favorites, along with dishes she loves to eat there. Cheddar’s Painkiller specialty drink (pictured above) is a revved up version of a pina colada. It’s limited to two per guest for a reason!
We also sampled their chips and homemade queso with a side of beef for no additional charge. Nacho’s anyone? It was so hard to stop eating them, but we had to save room for the main course!
Remember those bourbon glazed pork chops I mentioned earlier? That’s it below covered by buttermilk battered onion rings – you guessed it, from scratch! It’s also on a bed of mashed potatoes and served with a side of your choice. We had to take home some of that glaze – it was incredible. My mom visited Cheddar’s location in Georgia and raved about the potato soup, so I ordered that. It was so cheesy and delicious.
Additionally, we sampled the top sirloin combo with grilled shrimp and a loaded baked potato, and the chicken pot pie because it’s a classic favorite! The boys sampled the hand-breaded chicken tenders and quarter pound burger. Every single thing we tried was delightful! Oh and here’s a fun fact: a total of 33 million hand-breaded Chicken Tenders are fried-to-order at Cheddar’s annually. They’re popular for a reason!
As if we had any room left….we couldn’t pass up the hot fudge cake sundae. Mark just happened to be walking by with a delivery for another table when the boys spotted it. How could we resist all this chocolatey goodness? Thankfully Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is stocked with to-go boxes!
After a few weeks of recouping from our over the top feast, we’ll definitely be paying Cheddar’s another visit. I can’t wait to try their flaky honey butter croissants. Their portions are definitely shareable. If you’re looking for a great place to dine out that offers a welcoming atmosphere, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is the place to go for homemade meals. It’s perfect for families, couples, and special events.
And if you’re in the Orlando area, definitely stop by the Sanford location and ask for Jessica – she’s the best! Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen has locations in Orlando and Kissimmee as well, in addition to many other locations throughout the U.S. Plus, you can find over 20 entrees under $10 on the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen menu.

Yum! We honestly don’t eat at a lot of chain restaurants but we think Cheddar’s is the very best of them! My step mother-in-law loves it so much so we always eat there with her!
