Come From Away Musical Review
About the musical:
Come From Away Musical is based on the stories shared by residents as well as sheltered travelers in the week following the 9-11-2001 attacks. I believe anyone that is old enough to remember that day, knows where they were and what they were doing. So many lives were changed in this time of our Nation’s history. During this musical, characters brought to light different life stories. They made you laugh so hard that your tummy hurt, “That there in the middle of the road? That’s a Moose” This remarkable performance was full of one-line quips that split your side. Although, some moments made your heart break, the whole while being in awe of the strength portrayed. Hannah made me want to get out of my seat and just hug her!
Seven thousand people were sheltered by Islanders, they were fed and nurtured and cared for. This cast of talented professionals made your eyes jump all over the stage, they kept you interested and wanting to know more. They delivered more than a night out. They showed a glimpse into humanity that I am so glad I did not miss. I would recommend Come from Away to everyone. The powerful subject matter will make you think and feel, the opening act gave me chills. The band closed out our evening with the greatest energy. My hope is that you will also want to drink screech and kiss a cod “I am an Islander!”
Dr. Phillips Center tips:
If you have a Fairwinds account and attend a performance on opening night, you can enjoy complimentary appetizers and beverages in their members only room. Additionally, the theater offers several bars on tiers one through 4 where you can purchase snacks and drinks.
The Stage Door – once the performance has concluded, you can head over to the stage door located outside of the theater and meet and greet with some of the performers! They often will take a selfie with you and your guests and autograph your playbook!
