Universal CityWalk has been on one wild ride in 2014! The year-long historic expansion has included new venues like Red Oven Pizza, Hot Dog Hall of Fame, and VIVO Italian Kitchen. Just in time for the new year, Universal Citywalk officially opened its final restaurant of the year: The Cowfish. We had the opportunity to visit the restaurant last night and dine on some of their favorite dishes and signature drinks.

The Cowfish was first established in North Carolina and features an exciting menu that offers something for everyone, including innovative sushi rolls, unique craft burgers, and “Burgushi” – a cutting-edge fusion of burger and sushi that offers the best of both worlds. “Burgushi” items include sushi rolls created using burger components and pick-up style sandwiches created using sushi ingredients. For the full backstory on how The Cowfish came to be, check out this video.

Their Parmesan Truffle Fries were definitely a favorite in my book. We also sampled bite-sized burgers like The Texas Longhorn (a beef burger with cheddar cheese, onion strings, jalapeño bacon, tangy BBQ sauce, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun).
My favorite cocktail of the night would have to be their Chocolate “To Dive For” spike shake with Amaretto. Doesn’t it sound amazing?! Hubby’s favorite signature drink from The Cowfish is called Buffalos and Bacon (Buffalo Trace bourbon, cherry liqueur, angostura and orange bitters, honey, candied bacon). Everything’s better with bacon, right?
Guests dining at The Cowfish can savor signature menu creations like The Cowfish Bento Box (a combo meal including a gourmet mini-burger, sweet potato fries, Thai cucumbers, edamame and a choice of a four piece sushi roll), “The Prime Time” Filet & Lobster Burgushi Roll (lobster and cucumbers inside topped with seared rare seasoned filet mignon, pan-fried portabella mushroom slices tossed in truffle oil, green onions and spicy mayo) as well as family-style appetizers, salads and desserts.
If you’re looking for a great establishment to dine with friends and family – The Cowfish is it! Founders, Marcus Hall and Alan Springate know how to deliver with a great atmosphere with innovative food and fun. The Cowfish is located on the first floor of CityWalk next to Red Oven Pizza Bakery.
