D23 2019 – Everything NEW Coming to Walt Disney World!
With so much information to share, let’s get started with one of the biggest Orlando park transformations! The reinvention of Epcot will be comprised of four neighborhoods and filled with new experiences rooted in authenticity and innovation that take you to new destinations.
Epcot
This October, Disney guests will be able to visualize all of the exciting plans for Epcot at a new experience center in the Odyssey Events Pavilion, called Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience. See some never-before-revealed details driving the future of Epcot all throughout this unprecedented period of transformation.
World Celebration
The iconic Spaceship Earth transforms with new scenes, a new guide and all-new narration that will focus on the storytelling that brings people together.
Also shared at D23 2019, Epcot’s signature festivals will have a new pavilion – a three-level structure with a stunning view of World Showcase!
World Nature
Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana.” This first-ever attraction will let guests interact with magical, living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting.
Coming to The Land pavilion in 2020 is a new film titled Awesome Planet.
World Discovery
Space 220 is an all-new restaurant that takes its name from its distance above Earth. Beginning this winter, guests can enjoy an out-of-this-world culinary experience.
A family-friendly all-new coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will feature the first-ever reverse launch into space.
Epcot PLAY! Pavilion will be bursting with new games, activities, and experiences that will connect them with family, friends, and favorite Disney characters like never before.
World Showcase
World Showcase will welcome the first attraction inspired by Mary Poppins in Cherry Tree Lane, which will join the United Kingdom pavilion as an entirely new neighborhood.
The new nighttime spectacular HarmonioUS will follow the limited-time run of Epcot Forever and will be the largest ever created for a Disney park.
Also shared at D23 2019, the France pavilion is getting several new additions including, the much-anticipated attraction Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, as well as a delicious new restaurant called La Crêperie de Paris, both coming to Epcot in summer 2020.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the first ride-through attraction starring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Shared in my D23 Expo 2017 recap, Disney has been hard at work on this new attraction (coming to WDW in 2020) that will take guests on a journey inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s Emmy® Award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.
New Walt Disney World Resorts
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a new, first-of-its-kind vacation experience where guests will check-in for a two-night adventure aboard Halcyon, a glamorous starship. Once onboard, guests will interact with characters and become active participants in stories that unfold around them on their galactic journey. This “ship” will mimic boarding a Disney Cruise, but with a space-themed adventure. Head to the Disney Parks blog for all the details!
Reflections – a Disney lakeside lodge, a proposed Disney Vacation Club resort, draws inspiration from the wonders of nature and artistry of Walt Disney. Reflections will feature a lakeside restaurant themed to “Princess and the Frog”. Located between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground this new resort will welcome families sometime in 2022.
Other D23 2019 Disney News
At D23 2019 it was also revealed that Target and Disney will collaborate with a creative “shop within a shop” that encompasses experiential retail and merchandising – including the launch of 25 Disney stores within select Target stores nationwide on October 4, with 40 additional locations opening by October 2020.
I don’t know about you, but I am thrilled with all the new additions coming to the Walt Disney World parks in Orlando! Being a Florida native, and located in Central Florida, I can not wait to take my family to the parks to experience all the new rides, attractions, and adventures!
