Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread Recipe
Can this technically pass as a healthy breakfast? Dark chocolate is a healthier option, and peanut butter gives you protein, plus bananas are a fruit. My sweet tooth says yes! 🙂
Measurements with easy to follow printable directions are at the end of the post.
Recipe ingredients:
- all-purpose flour
- cocoa powder
- baking soda
- baking powder
- salt
- mashed bananas
- unsalted butter
- chunky peanut butter (creamy works too!)
- sugar
- dark brown sugar
- eggs
- vanilla extract
- dark chocolate chips
This recipe makes two 9×5 inch loaves. If it doesn’t get eaten up in minutes like at my house, you can freeze the second loaf until you crave some more!
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spray 2 – 9×5-inch loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or a potato masher. Add the butter and peanut butter, with an electric hand mixer, mix until combined. Add in the sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract, mix until smooth.
- With a wooden spoon stir in the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, don’t over mix. Finally, mix in dark chocolate chips.
- Divide batter into the 2 prepared pans. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
- Remove the pans from the oven and set on a wire cooling rack. Run a knife around the edges of the bread. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully remove from the pan. Let the bread cool on the wire cooling rack until slightly warm. Cut into slices and serve.
