Recently I took the boys to experience Disney on Ice for the first time. Although Rockin’ Ever After features several of Disney’s Princesses it is undoubtedly for any child boy or girl. We were also invited backstage before the show to meet the star of Disney’s latest blockbuster hit “Brave”. We dined on a kid-friendly meal and took pictures with Mérida.
We took our seats and anticipated an amazing show. Rockin’ Ever After kicked off with Mickey Mouse and friends. Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pinnochio were all there!
Making a big splash was Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She saves Prince Eric and sings her way into his heart. The act is not complete without an appearance from the Sea Witch Ursula. However just like in the movie Ariel defeats the Sea Witch and her and Prince Eric can finally be together. The duo put on a wonderful performance with several lifts and twirls and a solo acrobatic number by Ariel herself.
Next up we saw Tangled’s Rapunzel. Determined to see the floating lanterns she convinces Flynn Rider to help her escape the tower. While racing through the town she untangles the secret to who she really is. Maximus the horse even makes a début!
After a 15 minute intermission the show continues. Rockin’ Ever After boldly opens with their next act Brave. Mérida demonstrates her masterful archery skills beating out the competition of suitors. Her three brothers are quite the riot too!
Rounding out the evening before the big finale is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She leaves her small village to go on an adventure and finds herself at the Beasts doorstep. After an evening filled with singing and dancing she realizes she has fallen for the Beast and the spell is broken.
The show concludes with a huge finale which includes all the characters. And everyone takes a final bow.
Disney on Ice Rockin’ Ever After is an action packed show. It includes not only Disney Princesses, but their leading men and many other recognizable Disney characters. The experience lasts just over 2 hours and leaves you excited to see what they do next year. I highly recommend dressing for the occasion. Jackets or at least long sleeves are a must. There’s plenty of goodies to purchase during the show so make sure to have cash on hand. I also do not suggest bringing little ones to opening night. The Friday night show starts at 7:30 and concludes by 10pm making it difficult for smaller children to stay awake.
Overall the show was fun-filled and Rockin’, I’d expect nothing less from Disney. The kids had an amazing time! This show is a must for any family!
