Academy Award® winner Emma Stone stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.
The film is set in 1970’s London and the use of music throughout the movie is phenomenal! Absolutely everything about this film goes right – making it undeniably great. From Emma Stone’s incredible job as Cruella to the beautifully designed costumes to the killer soundtrack – Disney’s Cruella movie is a must-see!
The story follows the young Estella struggling to fit in. She stands out with her recognizable black and white hair, constantly getting in trouble at school, and her flair for designs outside the line. When Estella is threatened with expulsion, her mom quickly makes the decision to withdraw her from school and move to London.
Through some unfortunate incidents, Estella winds up on her own, living on the streets as a child. Soon after she forms the misfit gang with Horace and Jasper. When Estella eventually lands a job, albeit a cleaning lady at a prestigious fashion house, her dreams of becoming a fashion legend are born.
Enter the Baroness on Hellman – the fashion house owner. Cruella catches the eye of the Baroness and is invited to be a part of her upcoming fashion line. This is where the two sides of Cruella come alive. Through twists and turns, the two fashionistas go to war and it’s amazing to watch!
Emma Stone was born to play this role! And a soundtrack can make a film – it’s absolutely genius! Get your tickets now ladies and gents’ and settle in for a wild ride. The film opens in theaters this Friday, May 28th.
