Spring is wonderful! Isn’t it? Of course spring is wonderful, unless you suffer from allergies. It’s then the least looked forward to season of the year besides fall, and for some of us, we suffer from allergies year round. Many things can affect allergies and how your body reacts to pollen and other spring and fall outdoor substances. The air pressure can also affect it, and make your head feel like one big balloon ready to pop. There is hope for you!
Try some of these essential oils to support a healthy immune system:
Lavender: Natural Antihistamine
Lavender is the oil known to have so many uses that it can be used for just about any ailment. Thankfully for allergy sufferers, it is a natural antihistamine. Antihistamines are what most people take for allergy relief, it combats the wonderful things making you feel like you’re allergic to the air in general such as sneezing, itchy watery eyes, and often times coughing. You can choose to use the oil in many ways, but the most common and what is said to be the most effective is applying it on the face by the nose, temples, and under the eyes for support of allergy relief.
Peppermint: Anti-Inflammatory
When those pesky allergy symptoms kick in, the last thing you want is your sinuses to be inflamed, but this is unfortunately one of the common ailments that come along with allergies. Inflamed sinuses will make your upper cheeks feel as if you are a chipmunk (quite literally!) Peppermint to the rescue! Peppermint essential oils are an anti-inflammatory, applying it to the areas where the sinuses are inflamed (you can usually feel it quite well), can help reduce the inflammation relieving your symptoms.
Eucalyptus: Respiratory Aid
Many people suffering with allergies will have symptoms such as sore throats, coughing, sneezing, and difficulty breathing. These things all have to do with the respiratory system and eucalyptus can cure these nasty side effects as it is a respiratory aid. Diffusing eucalyptus around you daily, or applying it to an area of the body where you will smell it often, can assist in reducing your respiratory ailments significantly.

I did not realize that Lavender was a natural antihistamine. I’m going to have to get some Lavender Oil. Spring allergies are some of the worst I experience throughout the year. Thank you for this great informative post.

I am so thankful for my young living oils. I have been using them for almost 3 years now and they have helped relieve my problems from the different seasons too. My favorite combo is using lemon, lavender and peppermint on my sinuses, then thieves on my chest and feet to help build back my immune system to be able to fight against all these pesky allergies
