Disney Pixar Animation Studios is located near San Francisco, California. Touring the 16 acre campus is truly a magical experience! During the Cars 3 Press Event, I had the opportunity to tour the grounds for 2 days. Yep TWO! It’s no wonder Disney Pixar produces such amazing box office hits – their campus is dreamy!! Join me for a Pixar Studios Tour and see for yourself.
I was invited as media. All opinions are my own.
Let’s start the Pixar Studios Tour
Take a walk with me. We’ve just passed under the Pixar Studios archway and we’re now on the property. They’ve painted the driveway to celebrate their newest film; Cars 3, releasing in theaters June 16th. Pretty cool, right? Well that’s just the beginning!
The Steve Jobs Building
As you walk the lined trees entrance, you can’t help but notice the oversized Luxo Jr. lamp and ball right outside The Steve Jobs building. You’ll recognize them just before each Pixar film. Of course they are a perfect location for snapping a few photos to share with all your friends. Off to the left of the building is an open coliseum style seating area.
The entire campus is filled with beautiful scenery….”let the outside in,” Steve Jobs said. That’s why the entire front of the building dons glass windows. No stuffy offices here! They want your creativity to fly at Pixar Studios.
When you walk into the open atrium lobby, you’re greeted by life-size versions of some of Pixar’s most popular characters. Snap a selfie with The Incredibles gang, Buzz and Woody, and much more! You can also find the Pixar Studios store on the first floor – it’s the best place to find exclusive Pixar tee’s, toys, books, and so much more.
The second floor of the Steve Jobs building is filled with unreleased images of Pixar’s latest films, like Cars 3. Yep – you won’t find these images anywhere else folks! The talent oozing out of Pixar Studios walls is off the chain!
Disney Pixar Brooklyn Building
On day two of the Pixar Studios tour, we visited the Brooklyn building. If you look closely, you’ll notice a familiar friend atop of the building. Here’s a hint – “mine, mine, mine” from Finding Nemo. 😉
When you enter the building, you’re greeted by one of Pixar’s most loveable characters, Bing Bong! As you walk the building, you’ll find other gigantic characters, like Piper, Finding Nemo characters, and even a few hidden ones!
Speaking of hidden gems, check out these Pixar Easter Eggs you’ll find on the floor. Yes – Pixar thinks of everything! Do you recognize these characters below?
More about Pixar Animation Studios
The Pixar lot has a lap swimming pool, relaxation areas, a full gym, basketball courts, and delicious food too. Who wants to move in? I do!
Back at the Steve Jobs building is Pixar’s amazing trophy case of Academy Awards. When asked about this special Woody doll also in the case, we learned of an incredible story about a young boy who was replacing his withered Woody with a new version, but he couldn’t fathom throwing it away. With the help of Disney Magic Kingdom employees, he mailed in a letter with the doll and asked Pixar to keep his prized possession – and they did! Pretty awesome, right?!
As the sun set on our tour, I noticed the Luxo lamp actually lights up too! Genius move Pixar. I had to snap one last photo.
Did you enjoy the Pixar Studios Tour? It was such an amazing experience, and I hope one day everyone gets the opportunity to explore Pixar Animation Studios like I did. But for now, I hope this insider experience tides you over. 🙂
