Nate and I enjoy going out to eat occasionally. It’s always nice to say “the kitchen’s closed for tonight”. Sometimes things go well with the boys, and other times they want no part of sitting down (and waiting) in a restaurant. I’m sure many of you can remember a time or two when your child had a restaurant meltdown. Yea, those are always fun. 😉
The good thing about going to a restaurant like Buffalo Wings and Rings, a family friendly sports bar, is that there are several distractions. There’s typically multiple televisions with sports on, or arcade games. And when all else fails, I usually have something up my sleeve, like a coloring book or Go Fish card game to play at the table.
Since our 7 year old is a sports rockstar – he literally can rattle off every football player out there, and the team they play on. He’s also tried his hand at karate, golf, soccer, and baseball in his short life so far. I decided to surprise him with a sports crossword puzzle for this particular occasion. It was super simple to pull off too!
When we arrived at Buffalo Wings and Rings we were pretty hungry so we started with an app sampler that included chicken and black bean egg rolls, mozzarella sticks and potato skins. The table also had a game system that required a few coins to play, and when the money ran out the boys began to get ancy. That’s when I pulled out the crossword puzzle…..
My little guy’s face lit up with excitement! With a bit of help from dad on a few questions, he was able to complete the puzzle.
Dinner showed up just in time! What’s a wing place without trying some wings, right? Hubby ordered their award-winning Bourbon BBQ wings and Roasted Garlic.
I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with potato wedges and the kids ordered cheese pizza with apples. I highly recommend the potato wedges by the way – they are yummy!
For dessert we ordered the Funnel Stix from their new menu items, which included 3 dipping sauces including chocolate and caramel. Talk about delicious – these brought back fun memories of visiting the ballpark and carnival as a child too! You must order these – they are too good to pass up.
How to make a crossword puzzle
I googled “make a crossword puzzle” in my search engine and a few websites popped up that offered a free service. I came up with the questions and answers myself, then plugged them into the free website. Once ready, I printed off the crossword puzzle and brough it to the restaurant. Don’t forget a pen just in case. See, easy peasy! Click the crossword puzzle below if you’d like to print out my version.
