How to Train Your Dragon - The Hidden World Movie Review

At age 5 our older son had an encounter with a bookshelf that caused both of his front baby teeth to be pulled. From then on, we nicknamed him toothless. It would be more than 2 years until his permanent teeth would grow in! During that period How to Train Your Dragon (the first installment) had already released, and the second film was in production. J had an uncanny connection with the night fury dragon – after all they had the same nickname.

And finally, the long-awaited third installment is here: How to Train Your Dragon – The Hidden World releases in theaters this Friday, February 22nd! The boys and I attended an early screening of the film just a few days ago, and we couldn’t wait to share our no-spoiler movie review with all of you!

How to Train Your Dragon Movie Review

Dreamworks beautifully told animated film stole all of our hearts 9 years ago. And the third installment of How to Train Your Dragon does not disappoint! Toothless and Hiccup are still inseparable, but danger lurks and waits for the chance to capture Toothless (the last known night fury dragon) so that he can be killed by an evil villain. While Hiccup and his gang are busy rescuing dragons, they overlook an unknown light fury dragon on the ship. This gives the evil villain, Grimmel the Grizzly, an upper hand as a way to draw Toothless to them by using the glittery rare dragon.

When the chance encounter sparks love at first sight for Toothless, Hiccup is blind sighted by the deceitful ways of Grimmel the Grizzly. In an attempt to save all of the dragons – Toothless included – the Vikings and all of their dragons leave the place they’ve called home for a hidden world only talked about in legends. Does the hidden world really exist? Hiccup and his girlfriend Astrid also take a journey that leads them to new decisions, but I won’t give too much away.

The HTTYDragon trilogy is not to be missed!
