How does the Readability App work?
The Smart Reading Program uses Advanced Speech Recognition and Artificial Intelligence to provide an interactive tutoring experience. As your child reads, it highlights words they may have missed. When they long-press on the word, it provides pronunciation and meaning to help them grow. What age is the Readability App geared towards?
Children in grades K-6th. Based on your child’s age, the AI will create a curated list of fun, engaging and educational content for your child to become a strong reader.
My husband who is an elementary school principal shared his personal thoughts on the reading app below:
Research shows that if children are not reading on grade level by 3rd grade, it is unlikely that they will get on grade level unless they get intensive intervention. This app provides students with not only great text to read, but it helps them to see how fluent they read by calculating how fast they can read in one minute. Students who can read fluently are able to focus on comprehension and not decoding. Struggling readers are so focused on getting the words correct that they are not able to concentrate on the meaning of the words, or the content of the text. When students feel confident in their fluency they are able to focus on text meaning, which will help them in school and on any assessment they encounter. Readability helps students to increase their fluency and through that students are able to increase their comprehension of the text and reading confidence.
The Parent Dashboard
Click Parent Mode to review your child’s progress within the reading app. See their total reading duration, accuracy, comprehension, and words per minute. Additionally, you can click the reading report to see individual book stats. As a parent, this dashboard is SO important! It provides up-to-date progress that you can build upon and help your child to succeed.

I was a big proponent of Accelerated Reader when I was a librarian. I know a lot of my librarian colleagues did not share my enthusiasm for it but for the students I served, it was a wonderful encouragement to get them excited about reading. Will check out this app. Might be a great tool for my grandbabies.
