If friends and family didn’t know any better, they would think I worked at Joovy because of all the baby gear I own. But the truth is – when you like something, you like it. And I am a Joovy fan, especially of the new Joovy Groove Umbrella Stroller!
Just the other morning my lil guy and I were enjoying the outdoors and took a stroll with his Joovy Tricycoo. You may have remembered that review from last year’s Holiday Gift Guide. By the way, if you follow my instagram feed you might have caught that cute pic! 🙂
Now that J is in school full-time, I needed to downsize to a single stroller for weekday playdates and errand runs with baby boy. I of course checked in with Joovy’s latest gear to see if they had something I was looking for. I spotted the Joovy Groove Umbrella Stroller and it had many of the features I was looking for.
I’ve partnered with Joovy to bring you this product review. All opinions are my own, and may differ from yours. No additional compensation was received.
Here’s the features included with the Joovy Groove umbrella stroller:
• Fully adjustable 5-point harness with removable shoulder pad
• Removable oversized canopy – covered viewing window
• Mesh pockets in seat for kid’s stuff
• 2 cup holders for parents
• Zippered storage pocket
• Automatic fold lock and carry handle
• Unlimited recline positions to 149 degrees
• Large basket
• Sealed bearings in all wheels
• Adjustable leg support
• Reflective light technology for safety
Let’s talk about the oversized canopy shade. It is awesome! Most umbrella strollers offer rinky dinky canopies, but not the Joovy Groove. You have the option of flat, partial, or full shade protection, and it’s also completely removable. It even includes a peek-a-boo window to check in on baby.
Another major plus is the parent organizing section on the back of the stroller. Thank you for remembering us when you created this! I never leave home without a drink for myself or baby, and I’m really happy to see there are two mesh cup holders for parents, plus a zippered storage pocket for my phone, keys, etc. Baby also has two mesh pockets on either side of their seat as well.
The storage basket is not the largest I have seen, however many umbrella strollers do not even include a basket, so I’m happy Joovy included one with the Groove.
A deal breaker for me is a stroller that’s not easy to open and close. I just don’t have time for it. I need something that is convenient and manageable, and that is what I have found in the Joovy Groove. To close the stroller requires you to use your foot to engage the rear breaks, then pull up on the locking handle located in the center of the stroller. It should automatically lock into place with the stroller lock (shown above). To unfold the stroller, you simply release the stroller lock with your hand, pull the handle bars upward, then press down on the primary lock with your foot to lock it into place. Simple.
With a strong aluminum frame, slim design, and quality features, the Joovy Groove is definitely a great contender for the easy, on-the-go umbrella stroller. It’s available in Joovy’s bestselling colors, blueberry, greenie (featured here today), orangie, and black. It’s lightweight at just 17 lbs, and has a maximum weight capacity of 55 lbs.
The Joovy Groove Umbrella Stroller is priced at $199, at the time of this review. I feel it’s a great value for the quality you receive, and definitely recommend it to families. Also, I recommend signing up for the Joovy club for great offers, including FREE shipping on domestic orders within the 48 contiguous states.

I was telling my husband that we need a new umbrella stroller. Our son is now 3 and is over the weight limit for the umbrella stroller we have had since he was born. I also wanted something that had cup holders but didn’t think I could get that with an umbrella stroller. Definitely going to look at a Joovy. Thanks so much!
