It’s opening weekend of Marvel Studios Eternals! The Eternals movie introduces you to a slew of new superheroes that are sure to broaden your Marvel fandom.
Marvel Eternals Movie
Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” follows a group of heroes from beyond the stars who had protected the Earth since the dawn of man. When monstrous creatures called the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.
The outstanding ensemble cast includes Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, with Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, with Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena.
Marvel Eternals Movie Review
While I consider myself a huge Marvel fan, I can honestly say I knew very little of the Eternals, so going into the film I had no expectations. I did hear about certain reviews and they were not very positive, so I was hoping that the 2 1/2 hour movie wouldn’t disappoint. I am happy to say that it didn’t! I highly encourage you to do the same and form your own opinion about the film.
Being that this is a new era in the Marvel Universe there needed to be a back story, so I expected parts to be slower and not full throttle like many Marvel movies. But I really enjoyed the history element of the movie and how the Eternals have been around for 7,000 years, and their impact on human culture throughout time.
Eternals takes you deeper into the Marvel Universe and you learn about the Gods of Marvel and how they are created, and their cosmic impact on worlds. It definitely takes you in a different direction than the other films, but in a good way. The action scenes are intense and the ending is not to be missed.
This movie sets the scene for the next phase of the Marvel Universe as it continues to expand. You need to see it, so you are not left in the DARK for what is to come.
Make sure to stick around for 2 post credit scenes where you’ll be introduced to 2 new Marvel characters!
