My birthday was a little over a week ago. As I’m nearing my late 30’s, it reminded me that when I was a child and my parents were this age – I thought they were old. Obviously that’s not the case, but I am at a point in my life where my husband and I decided we’re done having children. With aging, and babies, comes noticeable changes with my body, and while I’ve kept a fairly good diet throughout the years, along with other healthy choices, I noticed stubborn pockets of fat that I just couldn’t get rid of. I was beyond excited to partner with Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – Dr. Kendall Peters (CPRS) in Orlando for CoolSculpting treatments, and I wanted to share my journey with all of you, along with CoolSculpting treatment tips!
CoolSculpting Treatment
What is CoolSculpting? A fat-freezing technology that’s a nonsurgical, scientifically proven way to reduce pockets of fat in trouble spots in as little as one session.* CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared to treat 9 different areas of the body: visible bulges under the chin and jawline areas, thighs, abdomen and flanks, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks, and upper arms.
*Up to 20-25% reduction in fat layer thickness after a single session. Results may be seen as early as 1 to 3 months after treatment.
Something that’s really important to mention is that CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss treatment. It’s a fat-reduction non-surgical treatment used by doctors.
Are you considering CoolSculpting? Here are a few answers to questions you might have:
Does CoolSculpting hurt? No. You may feel some pulling/tugging of your skin at the beginning, followed by an intense cold that becomes so cold it can feel hot, and then your skin becomes numb within a few minutes.
How many CoolSculpting treatments do you need? The minimum is typically 3 treatments.
How long does it take? Each treatment site takes 35 minutes.
Is there any downtime? No, some patients return to work the same day. You will have some swelling and tenderness and may experience cramping or stinging to the touch.
Here’s a video recap of my first CoolSculpting treatment!
More about CPRS in Orlando
At CPRS, your care is in the hands of the most highly skilled and experienced plastic surgeons. Established in 1979 by Dr. Calvin Peters, CPRS has grown steadily, attracting patients from across the United States and around the world. Under the leadership of his son, Dr. Kendall Peters, the practice continues to lead Central Florida in providing expert patient care with consistently excellent results for our patients. The practice also has a full-service medical spa including facials, fillers, microblading, and laser and acne treatments.
The ladies at CPRS made me feel at ease from the moment I arrived. I was whisked away to a spa-like room with Netflix, snacks, and drinks on hand. Oh, and they have a heater in the room because, well CoolSculpting is cold after all. 😉 Tanya was there every step of the way to walk me through the process (she’s a CoolSculpting patient herself). I personally chose a Friday appointment so I could have the weekend to veg-out and recoup. While CoolSculpting is non-invasive, your body may be sore. My treatment area included my abs and flanks, so I told the boys “don’t hug mommy this weekend.” Within 48 hours the mild cramping and bee-like stinging sensation (when the area was touched) had subsided.
CoolSculpting Tips
- CPRS offers you a private room with everything you need – from snacks to drinks to entertainment, however, if you’re not in the Orlando area check with your CoolSculpting office to see if they have a similar set-up. If not, pack a bag with items you need to stay entertained and hydrated.
- Each day take 2 minutes to massage the treatment area. You can do it in the shower with body wash, or afterward with lotion.
- Because the area will be swollen for a week or more, it’s recommended to wear shapewear under your clothing to help your body return to its natural look. Results may be seen as early as 1 to 3 months after treatment.
I’m looking forward to sharing more of my CoolSculpting journey with all of you! Look out for another post in the next few months with my results.
I highly recommend checking out CPRS’s reviews on their website and Facebook pages. They offer outstanding service!
