With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker now in theaters, Disney’s Hollywood Studios added new features to the theme park. You’ll definitely want to see the final Skywalker saga prior to visiting to avoid spoilers at the park. Here are the new updates to the Star Wars rides at Disney World!
I was invited as media to cover this event. All opinions are my own.
New Star Wars Rides at Disney World Hollywood Studios
My husband and I were celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary – and what better way than at Disney World! Thankfully, my husband understands Disney and I are a package deal. With a before-the-sunrise call time at Hollywood Studios, we quickly reserved our Rise of the Resistance boarding group on the Disney app the moment we stepped foot in the park. Those boarding groups go FAST and you can not pre-select a boarding group until you are in the park. Within 1-2 minutes, our boarding group popped up – we were group 60! We highly recommend arriving before the park opens to guarantee your spot.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
With a few hours until the Rise of Resistance (group 60 ended up being around noon), we headed over to Star Tours – The Adventure Continues to experience the latest updates to the ride. It begins with an urgent transmission from Lando Calrissian to join in the battle to end all battles. The next few months will feature exclusive destinations inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker before returning to a rotation of more than 100 combination sequences of past Star Wars films.
Lando being featured in the new Star Tours updates is a spoiler – so I hope you’ve seen The Rise of Skywalker already!
Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run
Want to ride the fastest ship in the galaxy? With one of two new Star Wars rides at Disney World Hollywood Studios you can do just that! This thrilling interactive smuggling mission is within Galaxy’s Edge and offers riders the opportunity to select your position (pilot, engineer or gunner).
Tip: there is NO Fastpass option for either new Star Wars ride, therefore I recommend the single rider line (just to the left of the main entrance) for Millennium Falcon. While you do not get to pick your position – you will save yourself more than an hour in line. You won’t be pilot (everyone wants that) but I’ve been both the engineer and gunner and both play important roles that are interactive and fun. Most people don’t even realize the single rider line is there and you can get on in roughly 20 minutes or less!
Rise of the Resistance
Join the Resistance in an epic battle against the First Order on this exciting new ride – also located in Galaxy’s Edge. Rise of the Resistance is more than just a ride – it’s an experience! We were blown away by the impressive thought process behind this attraction. It begins in a room with tips from Rey and BB-8 before beginning the mission. When our transport is captured we are escorted off the ride by a slew of the First Order and actually board the Star Destroyer.
Everyone remains in character the entire time. You truly feel like you are in the Star Wars universe. We were taken to a holding cell where Kylo Ren himself pays us a visit before a covert team of Resistance fighters help us escape and we begin yet another daring ride. It’s seriously one of the most creative attractions by Disney to date! Pandora the World of Avatar still has my top choice for the best Disney ride.
The Rise of Skywalker Merchandise
In addition to these new Star Wars rides at Disney World Hollywood Studios, there’s also a plethora of The Rise of Skywalker merchandise available at the theme parks and Disney Springs. Find everything from clothing to toys and much more!
We hope you enjoyed this recap of the new Star Wars rides at Disney World Hollywood Studios! Check out my IG Storie highlights for video coverage here.
I highly recommend making plans to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see these new Star Wars attractions. Lines will be long, so plan your arrival before the park opens – book a Fastpass for Star Tours, use the single rider line for Millennium and grab your boarding pass on the Disney app for Rise of the Resistance the moment you enter the park – you won’t want to miss this!
