On the Basis of Sex Movie Review
About the film:
On the Basis of Sex is inspired by the true story of the young Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a new mother and an attorney struggling in a field dominated by men. The film details the early days of her fight for equal rights for women. When Ruth (Felicity Jones) takes on a groundbreaking case with her husband Marty (Armie Hammer), she knows it could forever change the way the courts and the United States view gender discrimination. The film also chronicles the storybook-like romance between Ruth and Marty, a partnership that succeeded both personally and professionally. Directed by Mimi Leder and written by Daniel Stiepleman, On the Basis of Sex also co-stars Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston, Jack Reynor, and Cailee Spaeny.
On the Basis of Sex Movie Trailer:
The theater was packed with women of all ages. By the time credits were rolling, I had a very strong feeling that this incredibly inspirational story had indeed influenced a new generation of upcoming lawyers. The film is that good. While I’m too young to have experienced the 70’s movement, which honestly wasn’t that long ago, I am grateful for those before me, like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who has made things better – and more equal – for all of us. Another awe-inspiring part of the story is Marty, Ruth’s husband, and the dedication and respect he has for his wife in a time where women were looked at very differently. Ruth’s intellect, stubbornness, and dedication to changing the laws that once discriminated genders are truly impactful. On the Basis of Sex is powerful and suspenseful. A definite must-see!
