I’ve lived in the Central Florida area nearly all of my life and Orlando’s Asian Lantern Festival is one of the coolest experiences to date! Available on select nights through January 15th, 2023, this annual event is well worth the visit. See the Central Florida Zoo come to life at night with this spectacular event!
Orlando’s Asian Lantern Festival
See incredible illuminated lantern displays while walking the 3/4 of a mile pathway around the zoo. This unique experience celebrates the art, beauty, and wonder of traditional Asian culture in a neat way!
Take your time exploring all the sites and Instagram-worthy photo spots and if you missed something, circle back around again. This event is a very casual experience that everyone in the family can enjoy.
Orlando’s Asian Lantern Festival is on select nights from 6-10 pm. Tickets must be pre-purchased online and evenings do sell out, so act fast! While you are scheduled to arrive within a particular window of time, you can stay until closing to experience all that’s included.

In addition to beautiful larger-than-life displays, the festival offers several food spots, unique crafts for purchase, and live musical entertainment. One loop around the lighted pathway at a leisurely stroll will take roughly 1 hour’s time. The pathways are large enough for strollers and wheelchairs as well.
Picture-taking tip: Because the flash will not go off on cell phone photos due to the illuminated displays behind you, it’s best to take a selfie photo and have your friends/family stand behind you. This will eliminate you/your loved ones from being invisible in the photos. Here’s a quick video on how to take a selfie with more than one person.
There are so many awesome lantern displays throughout the festival! One of my favorite spots is the o-ring swings (seen in the video above). The kids love this area! My husband was fascinated by the huge panda waterfall display pictured below.
I highly encourage anyone living or visiting the Central Florida area to make plans to visit the Asian Lantern Festival in Orlando! This is a must-visit experience!
