The film is rated PG, however, there is some language worth noting. It’s hard to have a film with Samuel L. Jackson where he’s not cursing, so there’s a moment or two where one is implied. There’s also a scene of smoke clouds where words are displayed and if your child is old enough they can fill in the blanks.

This Friday we made it a family movie night and settled in to watch the film. My 11-year-old really enjoyed the comedy in the film. Both of my boys are really into Japanese art like anime and Pokemon so a film about a samurai is right up their alley. The movie also teaches kids about kindness and friendship which I appreciated as a parent.
