For some time now baby boy (22 months) has shown the classic signs for potty training. We’ve done some light training with great results and feel that he’s ready. With Christmas break in sight, we have decided to set a goal and have him potty trained by the end of the year.
I thought it was important to make our little guy feel part of the process so I took him to Wal-Mart to pick out his training pants. I noticed that Huggies Pull-Ups were on roll back for just $8.97 and combined that with a $2 off coupon, making them great for my budget. Plus they have characters from the Disney Pixar movie Cars, making them super fun for him.
We grabbed two packages, along with two packages of the Huggies Pull-Ups flushable wipes because those are important too! He was SO excited! We went a few aisles down to pick out some “big boy” underwear as well. We found a Disney variety pack filled with all of his favorite characters like Lightening McQueen, Buzz Lightyear, Incredibles, and more.
When we trained our first son at 2 years old he was potty trained in under a week. No joke. So, since that is the only experience I have, I wanted to be prepared with all the necessities.
Once home, I slipped our lil guy in his Huggies Pull-Ups training pants. I remembered a potty training kit I received while attending a friends Huggies party so I opened that as well. It included a potty training DVD, progress chart, stickers, fun blow up guitar, and potty dance mat. Rewards are a BIG part of the potty training process so it’s important to have those on hand. M&M’s work great as a reward too!
We’re now a few days into full on potty training and I couldn’t be more proud of our lil guy! He’s not consistently telling us when he needs to go, however he’s improving every day. It’s important to just keep trying and remain calm about the process.
I love the Huggies Pull-Ups Learning Design that fades the image on the pull-up when wet, letting myself and our little potty trainer know when there’s been an accident. Baby boy is a bit on the husky side so I appreciate the stretchy design of the pull-ups. And the easy open sides are really convenient! Most of his accidents are still occurring at night so I may return to the store and buy the GoodNites bedtime mats to help out with that issue. See, Huggies thinks of everything!

Potty training is quite an adventure but can be accomplished with consistency. I love the potty dance floor mat that you used with your son. That is such a great idea. I used the huggies potty training pants as well because the rest of them didn’t quite work for me. I also had an incentive every time my boy sat on the potty and took care of his business. Thanks for sharing your story.

We use Pull-ups too sometimes but training isn’t going to well. I could definitely be on top of my 29 month old more but I get too busy.

We love our Pull-Ups. Unfortunately potty training is not going very well and we have been using them for over a year now!
