Relieving Constipation in Children with Pedia-Lax Chewables
Over a year ago, my son’s tummy troubles caused us to seek a pediatric specialist. After a series of questions and evaluations, he was diagnosed with GERD (acid reflux) caused by his intestines backing up. Basically, he wasn’t going #2 enough or had trouble going #2 which caused the acid in his stomach to rise to his esophagus and when exacerbated enough, it would result in him vomiting. As a way to help with constipation relief, the pediatric specialist recommended a prescription laxative, along with an adjustment in his diet.
We had to reduce things like tomato sauce, fried foods, chocolate, and juice (unless freshly squeezed) from his diet. They also recommended no soda, but he doesn’t drink that so it wasn’t an issue.
At his most recent check-up, the doctor confirmed that L’s intestines were cleared and he no longer had GERD. We were to maintain his diet and use a laxative more sparingly, or when necessary. We’re now using Pedia-Lax® Chewable Tablets when relieving constipation for him, which (thankfully) isn’t very often.
I am so grateful I stuck with my instincts when his regular pediatrician said he was fine and that his tummy troubles were “normal” for kids. L was so miserable before, and after making these changes, he is a different kid!
The signs we saw in our child before his GERD diagnosis included him frequently saying “I threw up in my mouth” to sometimes vomiting (without other virus symptoms), complaining of his throat on fire, feeling so full he couldn’t eat regularly, not going #2 at least every other day, and general stomach pains.
While your child may not have tummy troubles to the extreme of my little guy, if they do have occasional constipation, it’s recommended to use Pedia-Lax® to relieve their symptoms. Their chewable tablets are formulated for kids ages 2-11, come in a tasty watermelon flavor and provide quick relief (within 30 minutes) and last up to 6 hours. They offer a gentle relief without the painful cramping sometimes associated with laxatives.
