A Discover Boating Survey by Wakefield Research mentioned 82% of Americans say being around water is relaxing. I couldn’t agree more! Living in Florida, we’re surrounded by water and take every opportunity to enjoy our surroundings.
Here are just some of the fun ways to seas the day on a boat:
Relax, unwind, and cruise. Build memories by taking your family out for a fun boat ride at a local lake or the ocean. There are little distractions on a boat so it’s a great time to bond with the kids. Bring snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and life jackets, and spend the day cruising the water. You may just spot a local sandbar hangout and meet new friends in the process.
Watersports. My husband and his family grew up on the water and tubing and skiing are some of their favorite activities. Every few years we plan a family reunion and meet up at the lake house for a few days of fun in the sun. Tubing appeals to all ages and requires little skill to learn. Gradually the kids will become more interested in other watersports that can add a challenge like wakeboarding and skiing. These boating activities are sure to make lasting memories for you and your family!
Hook a fish. I have fond memories of my dad and grandfather going fishing often. They were so good at catching fish that Sunday’s became a fish fry tradition. Now that my husband and I have our own boys, we’re enjoying introducing them to the sport. Reeling in a fish is something every kid should learn how to do! It’s a lot of fun and teaches them not only patience but an appreciation for catching their own food.
Take a sunset cruise. It’s a great date night out for parents and couples who want to enjoy some time on the water. Take in the beautiful sights and breathtaking sunset while you unwind. Oftentimes you can find sunset cruises available at resorts near the ocean. We highly recommend taking one!
