These Simple DIY Lotion Bars are perfect for the craft lover or beginner. They also make a great activity to do with the kids over summer break. Using a few simple ingredients, and selecting the molds of your choosing, you can create these DIY Lotion Bars.
Equal Parts of the following:
Almond, Olive or Avocado Oil
Directions:
Melt shea butter and beeswax in a double boiler. If you do not have a double boiler, fill a pot with water and place a glass bowl that is a little smaller on top of the pot, ensuring that the water does not touch the bottom of the glass bowl.
Once the sea butter and beeswax has completely melted, add in the oil of your choice.
*Shea Butter can get grainy if it gets too hot. To avoid this, melt your butter and wax on a low setting.
Pour into a mold like these Mini Star Silicone Molds (silicone molds are the easiest for removal), and allow to cool completely.
Once completely cooled, remove from mold.
To use:
Let your body heat gently melt the bar between your hands and rub into dry skin.
What mold shape would you choose to make with these DIY Lotion Bars?

I saw something similar to this at a Farmer’s Market, but they also had sparkles in them so that when you use them, you get a little shimmer on your skin. Anyone have thoughts on the best way to add that into the recipe?

What a great idea Amber! I’ve never considered that.

I finally tried a lotion bar and I was surprised at how moisturizing they can be. They are way better than any lotion that I have and I like the ingredients. Thanks for sharing.
