These fraction worksheets are ideal for children in grades 3rd and 4th. I don’t know about you, but when my boys were young, fractions seemed to trip them up, so it’s important to have practice pages like these to help build math fraction fluency. These simple one-step fraction problems will give your child some foundational practice that is needed before they can start to add and subtract fractions with like denominators.
Using pictures to represent fractions is very helpful in building fraction fluency. Students are able to have a reference about what a fraction is, which is equal parts to a whole.
Students are able to see that the denominator is the number of pieces the whole is split into, and the numerator is the number of pieces you have. On these pages, the numerator refers to the shaded part of the figure. Then once your child can determine which fraction matches the given graphic, they can further test their skills by shading in the correct number of parts determined by the given fraction.
In math, practice makes perfect and these simple fraction problems will allow your child the chance for extra practice that they may need to master their fraction fluency.
