I was invited as media to cover this press event. All opinions are my own.
Have you ever boarded a Disney cruise? Last week my son and I had the pleasure of boarding the Disney Magic for the day at Port Canaveral, Florida. This was our first time aboard a Disney cruise ship and it was everything you’d expect and more!
Tangled: The Musical
Tangled: The Musical is the newest original Disney Cruise Line stage spectacular. Presented exclusively aboard the Disney Magic, it’s the first-ever stage adaptation of the beloved animated film, “Tangled.” Once on board we made our way to the 977-seat Walt Disney Theatre, which spans the width of the ship and encompasses three decks, which include orchestra and balcony seating. The 60 minute performance begins with Flynn Rider and follows the original storyline you know from the film.
My absolute favorite scene is the lantern part of the performance. The theater really comes to life with lanterns throughout the audience area. You really feel apart of the moment! Of course the entire show is magical and simply amazing.
Musical Numbers included in Tangled: The Musical are:
“When Will My Life Begin?” featuring Rapunzel
“Mother Knows Best” featuring Mother Gothel
“I’ve Got a Dream” featuring Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, the Snuggly Duckling thugs, Maximus and ensemble
“I See the Light,” a Grammy Award-winning ballad featuring Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Plus 3 new songs created exclusively for this show by Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken (“Tangled,” “The Little Mermaid”) and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Glenn Slater (“Tangled”)!
Additional performances aboard the Disney Magic are Disney Dreams: An Enchanting Classic and Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story.
If you’d like to continue with the Tangled theme, you’ll want to stop by O’Gills Pub which transforms into the Snuggly Duckling Pub. The entire lounge is decked out in decor from the pub scene in the production.
More about the Disney Magic Cruise Ship
Sail the high seas with the Disney Magic and visit some of the world’s most magical places, including Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. The Disney Magic has new spaces and re-imagined areas for even more family fun!
From a new grand atrium lobby and a children’s area of “super hero” proportions to a three-story water thrill slide and a spa to stimulate the “Senses,” there are plenty of new and magical surprises in store for cruise guests. The ship features fun new experiences at the Disney Oceaneer Club, open to children 3-12 years of age. Marvel’s The Avengers make their presence known in an epic way aboard the Disney Magic, with Marvel’s Avengers Academy!
Adjacent to Marvel’s Avengers Academy is Andy’s Room, where stars of the Disney-Pixar “Toy Story” trilogy come to life in a multi-level space. Stocked with all of Andy’s favorite toys, the room features a larger-than-life Mr. Potato Head, a giant version of the lovable piggy bank, Hamm and a Slinky Dog slide. The enchanted land of Tinker Bell and her fairy friends comes alive in Pixie Hollow. In this magical forest setting, children can make crafts while sitting on stools shaped like mushrooms and acorns in front of Tinker Bell’s teapot house.
Of course there are tons of thrills aboard the upper ship decks with water-filled adventures! Dining on the Disney Magic will be an unforgettable experience with choices like Animator’s Palate, which we had the pleasure of dining at during our ship tour. Wow – what an amazing menu and service. This is one place you won’t want to miss!
Other restaurant choices include Carioca’s, Cabanas, and the popular Palo restaurant.
J and I truly enjoyed our day visit aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship. I can’t wait to book our first family cruise and enjoy a few days at sea with Disney!
