The Wild Robot Movie Review
About the film:
The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
The Wild Robot is a powerful story about the discovery of self, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature, and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things. It is written and directed by three-time Oscar® nominee Chris Sanders—the writer-director of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch—and is produced by Jeff Hermann.
Do robots have hearts? Indeed they do! Throughout the film, you’ll see something magical happen. Roz’s heart begins to grow as she learns to adapt to her environment. She takes on the role of mom to Brightbill, a sweet orphaned gosling.
As the story unfolds, Roz teaches Brightbill to eat, swim, and eventually the hardest task of all, fly! With limited time before the season changes, Roz is determined to check off her tasks as part technology, and part mom.
Roz and Brightbill are not the only creatures on the island though. With the help of a foxy friend, Fink, they form a unique bond and become a family. A variety of other adorable creatures pull on your heartstrings throughout the film as Roz teaches everyone the importance of community and making their world a better place.
The Wild Robot movie is rated PG. I encourage all families, young and old to see this film in theaters. The lessons learned throughout the film are exactly what our world needs more of today. It’s inspirational, funny, and heartwarming.
At the time of this review, The Wild Robot movie is rated 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is quite rare to see a rating this high from movie critics, but it’s warranted. The film is a must-see!
