We were invited as media to attend a two night stay at Cabana Bay Beach Resort. All opinions are my own, and may differ from yours.
Universal’s newest hotel, Cabana Bay Beach Resort, is an ultra retro hotel that’s bound to blow your top! Just minutes from Universal Orlando Resort and CityWalk, Cabana Bay guests receive exclusive theme park benefits like early access to the parks, including their all-new Diagon Alley section. Yes, Cabana Bay is the bomb!
Once you step foot into Cabana Bay’s lobby area you are taken through a time warp to the 50’s and 60’s era. The vibe is funky and cool. The resort is reminiscent to the era at every turn from the vibrant colors to the furniture choices and throwback commercials they play at the Bayliner Diner.
The 1,800 retro room hotel offers standard rooms that sleep four and family suites that sleep six. We stayed in a family suite that offered plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the accommodations with two sleeping areas, a kitchenette, two flat screen TV’s and an extra large bathroom. I loved the decor including the small details like VO5 and Zest toiletries. Pretty groovy!
Outside our room was the Cabana Courtyard and pool. There’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy including a large zero entry pool, dive tower-themed water slide, cabanas, outdoor billiard tables, shaded picnic tables, and much more. Guests can grab out of this world beverages at the Atomic Tonic poolside bar.
The other side of the resort houses a second courtyard and lazy river pool. Visit The Hideaway Bar & Grille or soak up Florida rays at all the outside seating areas. Both pools also include a kiddie splash park. The lazy river is never in short supply of guests floating along brightly colored tubes either.
The creators of Cabana Bay Beach Resort did an amazing job with all the details throughout the grounds. This retro hotel definitely puts you back to a fun place and time.
Also located at the hotel is the Galaxy Bowl 10 lane bowling alley. Your family will have a bowl-o-rama time! The bowling alley includes a table service restaurant so everyone can snack while they bowl.
Special guests visited us during our family fun at the Galaxy Bowl…..L’s favorite: Minions! The entire family had a blast bowling and hanging with some cool pals.
Additional Cabana Bay Beach Resort features include:
- a Fitness Studio
- Game-O-Rama Arcade
- Universal Orlando Resort Store
- Universal Orlando Attractions Ticket Center
- Car Rental desk
- On-site landromats
- and multiple dining options like Starbucks, Delizioso Pizza, and Bayliner Diner where you can get hot plates all day!
Parked outside of the hotel you can find four unique cars from the 50’s and 60’s. My little guy enjoyed a fun photoshoot with several of them.
The Cabana Bay Beach Resort is definitely a unique and fun experience for all. We absolutely will be returning, especially with their too good to pass up special offers! If you are visiting the Orlando area or simply in the mood for a staycation, I highly recommend checking out all that Cabana Bay has to offer. It will flip your lid!

Our family stayed here over the summer. The kids really liked it and still refer to it as “the hotel with shapes.” I think it’s cute that they identify the architectural style that way!
