Vanessa Marshall from Star Wars Rebels Interview #StarWarsRebelsEvent

I had the opportunity to meet the down to earth and incredibly sweet Vanessa Marshall who is the voice of Hera on the highly anticipated Star Wars Rebels, premiering this fall on Disney XD.  Along with a fabulous group of bloggers, we dined on delicious food at Preston’s Restaurant inside Loew’s Hotel for Star Wars Day, while interviewing Vanessa on her role in the new series.

As the daughter of famous actress Joan Van Ark (Knots Landing, Dallas) she mentions identifying with Luke Skywalker throughout the original trilogy because his dad was taken away from him by the dark side and she saw show business taking her mom away from her. Only after a brief career in stand-up comedy and a suggestion to get into voice-overs did Vanessa Marshall find herself in the same industry as her mom.

Calling herself a “bionic nerd” and super Star Wars fan, Vanessa feels her role as Hera is the perfect fit. Not only is Vanessa a breeze to chat with, but she also shared that she checked out each of our blogs and passed them along to all of her mommy friends. How awesome is that? I was honored to be in the presence of such a wonderful spirit. Her cheery nature was infectious and I’m sure will shine through in her character on the series.

The Star Wars Rebels cast includes Tiya Sircar, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Taylor Gray. It was also shared with us that the cast collectively joins for voice-overs together, so everyone can feed off one another’s energy while performing. 

Our #MaytheFourth day celebration was quite a blast! We even snapped photos with R2-D2 and Star Wars storm troopers. My boys were definitely jealous of this picture and can’t wait to see Star Wars Rebels this fall.
